Experience & Education

James Welcome graduated from Quinnipiac Law School, and received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Connecticut. Mr. Welcome received his Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the University of Connecticut Graduate School. Attorney Welcome is committed to community service. He is a board member of St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury, a non-profit charitable organization that is the largest homeless shelter and soup kitchen provider in the state of Connecticut. Attorney Welcome is also an appointed Commissioner of the City of Waterbury Board of Ethics, a member of the Waterbury Democratic Town Committee and a former board member of Habitat for Humanity of Waterbury.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Welcome was an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, where he spent a year living in a low-income barrio in San Diego while working for a non-profit community development organization. Attorney Welcome is also a former chairperson of the National Service Network of San Diego County, which is an organization of more than three hundred volunteers committed to promoting service in our communities and involving youth in community service. While in law school, Mr. Welcome obtained a grant to fund a project through the Thomas Merton Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut and the Quinnipiac Law School Legal Clinic to provide outreach and legal assistance to homeless individuals and families in Bridgeport.

Attorney Welcome is admitted to practice in all Connecticut courts, the U.S. Federal District Court of Connecticut, and the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan.

The Law Offices of James A. Welcome has convenient locations in downtown Waterbury and Danbury, accessible to all major highways and public transportation.

Mr. Welcome and his wife Ana live in Waterbury with their three children.
